Your Personal Year number is the season your life is currently in, on a nine-year cycle. Add the day and month of your birth to the current year, reduce the total to a single digit, and you have it. It is one of the five systems I weave through every reading, because a question about love or work lands very differently in a year of beginnings than in a year of release.
How to calculate it
Add your birth day, your birth month, and the current year, digit by digit, then keep reducing until one digit remains.
Say you were born on 14 March and the year is 2026. Add 1 + 4 for the day, 3 for the month, and 2 + 0 + 2 + 6 for the year. That gives 18. Add 1 + 8, and you get 9. That person is standing in a Personal Year 9.
What each year asks of you
- 1, the Beginning. Plant. Start the thing. What you begin now shapes the whole cycle.
- 2, the Pairing. Patience and partnership. Things ripen slowly, and with others.
- 3, the Voice. Expression, visibility, social growth. Say the thing out loud.
- 4, the Foundation. Build and consolidate. Unromantic, and essential.
- 5, the Turn. Change arrives, invited or not. Stay loose in the saddle.
- 6, the Hearth. Love, home, duty. Relationships carry the year's weight.
- 7, the Interior. Withdrawal and understanding. A quiet year that thinks.
- 8, the Harvest. Power, money, results. What you built starts paying, or failing, honestly.
- 9, the Release. Endings and clearing. You cannot carry everything into Year 1.
Why it matters in a reading
The same card in the same position means different things in different seasons. The Tower in a Year 9 is often mercy, a clearing that was coming anyway. The Tower in a Year 4 asks what was built on sand. When I read for you, your Personal Year sits under every card that falls, and if two people are in the reading, both cycles do.
This is one lens of five. Alone it can flatter or mislead. Woven with your astrology, your Life Path, your year animal, and the cards, it cannot.
