What to ask in a love reading.

The cards read what is in motion between two people. Ask about the motion.

The love questions that get real answers are about the connection and your place in it: what is moving between you, what sustains it, what starves it, and what is asked of you next. The questions that waste a spread are the ones that treat another person as a lock to be picked. The cards do not pick locks.

Five shapes that work

Ask what stands between you and them, and what feeds it. Ask what they are carrying into this connection that they have not said aloud. Ask what this connection is teaching you, and what it costs you. Ask what would need to change for this to deepen, and whether that change is yours to make. Ask where this is heading if nothing changes. Each of these names a current, and currents are what a spread reads best. The general craft of framing is covered in how to ask tarot properly; love simply raises the stakes of the phrasing.

Shapes that waste a love spread

Will they text me tomorrow: too small for the instrument, like weighing a letter on a truck scale. Make them come back: not a question at all, and any shop selling that outcome is selling something no card can deliver. Do they love me, asked alone, is thinner than it feels. The more useful shape is what does their feeling look like from the inside, because that is answerable with texture rather than a coin flip.

An honest love reading will sometimes say the connection is resting on your effort alone, or that the road back to someone is not real. If every reading you have ever bought said what you hoped to hear, you have not been buying readings.

What no honest reader promises

No fixed futures, no guaranteed return of a person who left, no reading of anyone as a puppet with strings. What a good reading gives you is the state of the current and your own position in it, drawn specifically: at this table, from both people's birth data and cards drawn for you alone. That is enough. It is usually more than you expect.
